CDC Foundation Presents: Feeling the Heat: The Climate and Health Challenge

It’s really important to consider who is being impacted the most by both climate injustice and health injustice.
Setup
The impact of climate change is dire: floods, drought, fire, hurricanes, deforestation, degraded water systems, agricultural devastation, and refugee crises. No one will escape the health effects, as respiratory, cardiovascular, and infectious disease rates rise, water and food shortages widen, and mental health harms escalate. But communities with weak infrastructure, fragile housing, and resource shortfalls will be hardest hit, as will vulnerable populations and the younger generations growing up on a threatened planet. Fortunately, we can still commit to equity, build more resilient communities, and take on the intersectional systems that drive injustice—but there is no time to waste.
