Bret Stephens is an opinion columnist for The New York Times. Previously, he was deputy editorial page editor and a foreign affairs columnist at The Wall Street Journal. Prior to this, Stephens was editor in chief of The Jerusalem Post, where he oversaw the news, editorial, and digital operations, as well as international editions, and wrote a weekly column. He is the author of America in Retreat: The New Isolationism and the Coming Global Disorder. Winner of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for commentary, in 2022 the government of Russia banned Stephens for life from visiting that country.
