Musician; Founder, Reasons to Be Cheerful; Founder, Arbutus Foundation
David Byrne is a musician and founder of the Arbutus Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to reimagining the world through projects that inspire and educate, including Reasons to be Cheerful, a solutions-oriented online magazine. Recent works include the Broadway debut of David Byrne’s American Utopia; the Grammy-nominated solo album American Utopia; theatrical piece Joan of Arc: Into the Fire; and The Institute Presents: NEUROSOCIETY, a series of interactive environments questioning human perception and bias. A co-founder of the group Talking Heads, Byrne has released nine studio albums and founded the record label Luaka Bop. He’s also a photographer, filmmaker, and writer. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member with Talking Heads, Byrne’s numerous honors include an Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe.
